Job Title - Property Service Charge Accountant
Location - Manchester
Salary - £35,000
Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Service Charge Accountant with a passion for property management? Our client is looking for a detail oriented and proactive Property Service Charge Accountant to join their dynamic team. You will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of their property portfolio, ensuring accurate service charge budgeting, reconciliation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Service Charge Budgeting: Prepare, review, and manage annual service charge budgets for a diverse portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of service charge accounts, ensuring accuracy in allocation of costs and charges. Year-End Accounts: Produce and finalise service charge year-end accounts, working closely with property managers to ensure all expenditures are correctly accounted for. Client Liaison: Communicate with landlords, tenants, and property managers to resolve any queries related to service charges, budgets, or accounts. Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports, including variance analysis, to clients and senior management, offering insight into service charge performance. Audit Support: Coordinate and provide information for external auditors during service charge audits. Compliance: Ensure all accounting processes comply with relevant property legislation, leases, and RICS guidelines.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Service Charge Accountant within the property sector, with a strong understanding of service charge accounting processes. Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Qube, Yardi, MRI) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of property legislation, RICS guidelines, and lease terms relating to service charge accounts. Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Exceptional communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
