Vacancy: Senior Software & Controls Engineer
Location: Swindon-UK

To manage the Automation Engineering team and to develop, support and progress the automation strategy for the site to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy through the implementation of effective automation and data capture and control. To ensure OT infrastructure is compliant and secure. To maintain the Automation and Electrical equipment / Infrastructure on site including plc, Hmi and Scada systems and equipment and act as technical resource for the site. Responsible for Robotic, automation and controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and plant start-up assistance in all aspects of plant operations.

Your responsibilities:
- Providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
- To support the introduction of new equipment ensuring specifications are drafted to ensure modern up to date standards for machine connectivity.
- Increase the site operational effectiveness, manage and implement improvement plans through better and more repeatable equipment and reduced human content or errors, improve mean time between failure and downtime reduction through analytics and robust systems, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
- Lead the automation team including technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department.
- Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
- Serves as site expert for a designated set of automation systems, including representing integrated needs in cross-functional and cross-site teams and may include some software development of related enhancements, supplemental systems, and/or support and monitoring tools
Requirements for the role:
- Possess Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering or proven equivalent experience.
- Proven experience of data systems management including Scada and MES as well as the development and expansion of those systems.
- Proven experience in PLC and programming with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Siemans, Omron, Hitachi, ABB
- PLC knowledge and programming in Allen Bradley PLC. RS Logix 5000 and other series. Experience in MOB Bus, ASI, PROFI Bus, CAN Bus and internet communication.
- HMI and SCADA experience and knowledge including programming. Ideally with Wonderware
- Specific work experience with GE Fanuc robotics system and programming is advantages
- Have 3 - 5 years working experience in manufacturing plant dedication to automation, electrical, Mechanical, electronic and robotic.
