Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Carshalton, London We are currently recruiting for a leading SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in Carshalton, dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for students facing SEMH challenges and/or exhibiting challenging behaviours. The School is committed to empowering students, helping them to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviours. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported and valued. This is a long-term role to start as soon as possible and will be with a view to going permanent. You will be working Monday to Friday and the hours will be from 8.30am-3.30pm. The daily rate of pay will be between £85-£100 depending on skills and experience. Some of your responsibilities will include: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with learning activities and achieve their educational goals. Assist in implementing individualised learning plans and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs. Support the class teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring that students are able to participate and make progress in their learning. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviours is highly desirable. Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field are advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students facing complex emotional and behavioural challenges.
