Opportunity:
A new opportunity has presented itself to take the next step in your career and join an established Geotechnical engineering firm based near Sheffield. This company has been around over 30 years and works across multiple sectors including infrastructure, renewables, confined spaces and structures. As the new Geotechnical Engineer on the team, you'll have the chance to grow and develop alongside dedicated career professionals as you leave your mark on major projects around the UK. You will be working for a contractor who delivers bespoke design and build solutions and who will foster your continued professional development, with you being given IRATA rope-access training and inspections if you haven't already undertaken it.
Responsibility:
The geotechnical division for this company has a majority focus on undertaking the stabilisation of rock and soil slopes, this includes working with retaining walls. The detailed design of stabilisation solutions will be your responsibility, using your expertise to come up with innovative solutions to potential issues. Once designed, you will be travelling to active work sites to supervise various projects and ensuring compliance in accordance with design specifications. Outside of site visits, you will be expected to prepare various documents including inspection reports, quotations and designs. Use of AutoCAD and slope stability software will also be included in your desk-based responsibilities. All of these tasks will contribute to your final responsibility of assisting in the development of the business by advancing internal capability, leading to positive business development and consequently more work for the company.
Requirements:
To be a successful applicant, there is a minimum criterion that should be met:
You will need to have at least 3 years' experience working in a geo-related role, with practical experience using relevant software and carrying out rock and soil slope stabilisation inspections.
You will need a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline.
Proven, high-quality technical report writing skills.
A full, clean UK drivers license is an essential as travel will be a key component of the job.
Memberships to relevant professional bodies are desirable but not essential.
