This role is easily accessible from Cardiff, Caerphilly, Pontypridd, Merthyr Tydfil, Llantrisant, Pontypool, Newport, Barry, Rhoose, Llantwit Major, Bridgend, Port Talbot and the surrounding areas.  Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.  Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations Manager, the Quarry Manager will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.  As Quarry Manager you will also be responsible for:  Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team using KPIs to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk  All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and producing operational reports  Effective management of contractors to maximise efficient through daily performance management and reviews  Maintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the same  Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the Quarry and the planned preventative maintenance of all the site’s equipment  Ensuring that the plant meets operational and production requirements  Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrix  Collating and report on monthly performance KPIs for your business unit for the Area Operations   Ensuring a one team approach, having buy in from all members of staff to maximise outputs and have clear working goals The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Quarry Manager will have experience in Quarrying operations or a similar working environment and possess a good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 as a Regulation 8.1(c) appointment – we will consider 8.1(d).  Suitable candidates for the role of Quarry Manager will have:  Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology (or similar qualification)  SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6  Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry.
