We are looking for an experienced Project Planner/Scheduler to join Our Client's Infrastructure team. This role offers the chance to work across multiple depots and offices in Cornwall and Devon, supporting a wide range of construction projects, from sewer rehabilitation to major civil engineering works. In this position, you will play a vital role in planning and scheduling projects while collaborating with a seasoned team of professionals. You will work closely with both long-standing and new clients, helping to deliver outstanding project outcomes and supporting the company's continued success.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements.
Work with key departments throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to post-construction, to create and maintain detailed project plans/programmes.
Develop NEC Agreed project plans/programmes using project management software (primarily MS Project), defining project scope, deliverables, tasks, and timelines.
Identify critical path activities and dependencies to optimise project schedules and timelines.
Generate detailed project schedules and visualise progress through Gantt charts and critical path analyses.
Produce regular progress reports, providing updates on project status, milestones, and any deviations from the original plan.
Assist in identifying potential risks to project timelines and collaborate with teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Manage changes to the project schedule due to scope changes or unforeseen events, assessing the impact on overall timelines and communicating adjustments to project managers and stakeholders.
Ensure that subcontractor and supplier programmes are integrated into overall project schedules.
Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and resource management concepts.
Proficient in analysing project data to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with project managers, team members, and stakeholders.
Skilled at presenting complex information in a clear, concise manner.
Knowledge of project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
Experience in using scheduling techniques like Gantt charts and critical path analysis.
Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in project schedules and documentation.
Ability to adapt to changes and modify schedules as needed.
Experience in the utilities/infrastructure/civil engineering sector.
Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or project management.
Knowledge of NEC contract conditions is desirable.
