We are seeking a Project Delivery Manager to join us at our Capenhurst site. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the UCP (AGDP) capital project portfolio at Capenhurst, enhancing Urenco’s project delivery capabilities across a range of diverse business assets. You’ll oversee the entire project lifecycle, from setup and initiation through to execution and project closure.
At Urenco, we are dedicated to helping you reach your full potential. If you meet some, but not all, of our qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. We value the passion and potential of our people, offering market-leading training, development opportunities, and the chance to learn from industry experts through mentorship and coaching.
What You’ll Do:
Lead, role model, and actively promote a proactive safety culture within project teams and the wider business throughout the project lifecycle.
Advise, consult, lead, and provide feedback on developing and evolving the site’s Project Delivery Strategy to align with business objectives across the site and group capital investment portfolio.
Oversee project delivery to meet safety, scope, cost, schedule, and business benefits objectives. Communicate strategy, objectives, and benefits to business and group while implementing organisational strategy for maximum business benefit.
Lead Programme Managers and Project Managers to deliver the site capital portfolio, ensuring accountability and ownership for project management.
Proactively manage resources, cost, schedule, and interfaces with site and group functions, alongside the supply chain, to ensure successful project delivery from concept to handover and commissioning.
Support the continual personal development of the Programme Delivery Team by collecting, sharing, and applying learning from experience. Act as a mentor and coach to team members.
Manage resources within the project management team to support the forward capital plan. Enhance team capabilities through development, training, recruitment, and succession planning, while coaching and mentoring your team.
Line manage Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Project Engineers, including performance management and aligning talent with the capital portfolio.
Develop the forward details of the capital plan to support the 10-year business plan, ensuring alignment between local site and group project strategies.
Build a high-performance team, integrating sub-disciplines, internal and external functions, throughout the project lifecycle to deliver the site project portfolio.
Enhance relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal functions.
Produce regular project and programme foresight information to inform Senior Management and the business of predictability in achieving defined objectives within budget and resource constraints.
Ensure Urenco’s commercial interests are robustly protected through best practice in contracting strategies, supplier selection, procurement, contract negotiation, and management.
Lead innovation by leveraging industry best practices, continuously scanning the market for value-creating advancements.
Retain and transfer knowledge across Urenco, conducting lessons learned reviews to drive continuous improvement in project engineering practices.
What You Need to Thrive in This Role:
Degree in a relevant discipline
Postgraduate degree (e.g., MBA or construction law) is advantageous
Project Management Qualification/Accreditation (e.g., APM, PMI)
Experience delivering capex projects at both individual and portfolio levels
Full accountability for a project portfolio, with demonstrable success in project and programme delivery
Experience across the entire project lifecycle, from concept development to handover
On-site construction experience
Minimum of 5 years managing people and teams
Success in leading complex, multi-disciplinary programmes in regulated environments
Ability to manage ambiguity, taking accountability for project outcomes
Team-building skills for high-performing professionals, with strong strategic communication
Expertise in leading project teams with minimal supervision
Knowledge of Urenco’s processes, procedures, and effective senior-level communication
Familiarity with site and construction safety legislation, security protocols, health and environmental standards (e.g., CDM)
Understanding of the Tails Management process and associated risks
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and guidance, specifically within safety, security, safeguards, health, and environmental concerns
Awareness of the full nuclear licensing lifecycle, codes, standards, and guidance
