My client is an established and leading provider of precision engineering solutions and services, supplying a variety of precision machined components for the Aerospace industry sector. With a commitment to quality and innovation, they take pride in their skilled team and cutting-edge technology. As they continue to grow, they are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Inspector with a strong understanding of AS9100 and FAIR.

As Quality Engineer you will play a key role in overseeing quality assurance processes, conducting inspections and tests and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continually develop robust quality plans and procedures for machined components
  • Inspect and verify parts across all stages of the manufacturing process for a variety of precision machined components in a variety of materials
  • Conduct First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR)
  • Ensure all parts produced are in line with drawing and specification requirements
  • Manage and report on non-conformances
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and resolution, ensuring correct rework of parts where appropriate, necessary
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure quality and production targets
  • Manage customer returns, liaising and communicating with external customers to ensure positive relationships and resolution of non-conformance
  • Assist and report on monthly statistics
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the quality management systems

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role ideally gained within a Precision Engineering and/or Aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience and understanding of AS9100
  • Working knowledge of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR AS9102)
  • Conversant in the use of Mechanical Measurement Equipment (verniers, micrometers, calipers gauges etc.) and CMM
  • Knowledge of performing first-off, stage and final inspection
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Capable of working independently and with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication skills and computer literacy, including strong Excel skills
  • Experience in the use of Problem Solving, Investigation and Control techniques (8D, 5Whys, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, PFMEA, SPC etc)
  • Previous experience performing Quality Audits would be highly desirable
