Job Requirements / Description
AA Euro Group are working with a leading Main Contractor and looking for a Mechanical Lead to join their team for a new Data Centre Project in Wales. Role Overview: The Mechanical Lead will oversee all mechanical systems and installations on a high-profile Data Centre project. This role demands technical expertise in mechanical engineering, as well as strong leadership to manage on-site activities, ensure timely delivery, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. As the primary point of contact for mechanical systems, you will collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and the client to ensure the seamless delivery of mechanical works, from design through to commissioning. Key Responsibilities: As the Mechanical Lead, you will manage the mechanical systems design, installation, and commissioning on the project, ensuring they are delivered in line with the project timeline and budget. Your role will involve reviewing technical designs and ensuring coordination between mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, liaising with both internal teams and external contractors. You will provide leadership on-site, guiding a team of engineers and supervisors, while working closely with subcontractors to ensure that all mechanical installations meet the highest standards of safety and quality. Problem-solving will be key, as you will address any design or construction challenges that arise, ensuring they are resolved promptly and efficiently. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and client requirements. Quality control, safety checks, and inspections will be integral to your daily activities, ensuring all mechanical systems are installed to specification and are fully tested before handover. Key Requirements: You should have at least 7-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with significant experience working on large-scale projects, ideally data centres or other mission-critical environments. A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is essential, and professional membership with a recognized engineering institution (e.g., CIBSE, IMECHE) is preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital, as you will need to manage teams and work across multiple disciplines to ensure the smooth coordination of MEP systems. Technical proficiency in mechanical design and installation, particularly in data centre projects, is essential. Knowledge of BIM, commissioning processes, and energy-efficient mechanical systems will be highly advantageous
