Job Title: Design Manager (Rail/Energy Civils)
Location: South West London (3 days a week onsite)
Contract: 6-month initial contract (Outside IR35, potential for extension)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in Rail and Energy Civils , particularly within substation design and supporting design management across multiple projects . The ideal candidate will have experience in both Rail and Grid projects, with a track record of successfully delivering civil design packages in these sectors. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse, challenging projects in South West London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage design packages for various Rail and Grid projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery across all phases.
- Act as the central point of coordination for substation design requirements, ensuring all designs align with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and external consultants, to oversee project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure alignment with project objectives, safety standards, and client specifications.
- Provide guidance and support to design teams, addressing technical queries and challenges to ensure seamless project execution.
- Identify risks and proactively manage design changes, coordinating necessary adjustments to meet project milestones and budgets.
- Prepare and present regular design progress updates and reports for stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in design management within Rail and Energy Civils , specifically with a focus on substation projects.
- Solid understanding of civil design requirements for Rail and Grid projects, including industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing design packages across multiple projects, balancing time, budget, and resource constraints.
- Demonstrable knowledge of industry-specific software and design tools .
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chartered status or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field (desirable).
- Prior experience on projects within Rail Infrastructure and Grid Connections sectors.
