Construction Assessor (Midlands) Job Description: Job Title: Construction Assessor (Midlands) Full-time. Salary: Up to £38,000+ DOE Responsible to: Construction Operations Manager Location: Remote but ideally based around the Midlands area - with national travel required and overnight stays Purpose of the role: To coach learners through a suitable learning programme in Construction and Plant Operations, from induction to certification. Ensure all assessment, learning, training, and testing activities meet the needs of the learner and employer, as well as external and internal audit requirements. Place particular focus on quality assurance to maximize success rates and learner and employer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Visit learners in their working environment to carry out inductions, reviews, action planning, observations, and assessments. Teach, support, guide, and mentor learners throughout their qualification, embedding Maths and English. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all relevant documentation and records relating to learners' training, progress, and achievement, including: Learner Reviews Records of Assessment Contact Logs Action Plans/Feedback Training Records IV Documentation Any other contractual paperwork Keep updated on specific occupational areas and developments in assessment methods. Ensure learners are fully aware of their progress and where their evidence meets qualification standards. Implement specific training needs to assist learner's progression. Provide ongoing information, advice, and guidance. Proactively engage with employers and update them on learners' progress. Embed safeguarding, British values, awareness of Prevent, equality and diversity, and health and safety into the learners' programme. Maintain assessment standards in accordance with TDLB D32/D33/A1/TAQA, Standard 9 at all times. Provide support and guidance to learners, as well as more specific support for additional learning and social needs. Accurately complete learner Health and Safety documentation and report on any issues. Support and maintain the quality assurance process for assessment, training, and verification purposes, in line with the Company’s policies and all related Awarding Body procedures and guidelines. Contribute to maintaining delivery, practical and knowledge-based skills, and identify and record occupational training provided. Commit to continuous improvement—both personal and organizational. Assist in expanding the company’s portfolio by contributing to the marketing of all business areas. Adhere to the Company’s IQA policies and procedures. Maintain own caseloads at viable levels. Core Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to Ofsted and funding guidance and stay updated on relevant knowledge. Safeguard vulnerable adults and ensure the Company’s Safeguarding and Prevent policy and processes are adhered to at all times. Advocate a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with the Company’s policy and values. Commit to personal development and undertake training where appropriate. Review and analyse own performance against required outcomes to meet or exceed targets. Occasionally work outside normal hours and take on additional responsibilities as requested by line management. Positively contribute toward the BEST culture (sharing ideas, supporting staff, going above and beyond, enhancing reputation, acting as a champion, and assisting with business goals). Clearly demonstrate adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures (e.g., Attendance, Professional conduct). Skills & Experience Required: Experience in embedding functional skills. Ability to prioritise workloads and use initiative. Flexibility in approach and ability to work well within a team. Some supervisory experience is desirable. Experience in mentoring, coaching, delivering training, or supporting personal development for learners. Full driving licence, own vehicle, and business insurance, as learners will be located across a large geographical area. Qualifications: D32/33 or A1 units. Recognized Teaching Qualification (e.g., PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE). Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English. Relevant qualifications in subject area(s): L2 NVQ Certificate in Construction Operations L2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations L2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations Experience with both paper-based and e-portfolios. Occupational competence in accordance with Awarding Body guidelines.
