THE ROLE

We are actively searching for an experienced Yard & Transport Manager based at the Birmingham Branch.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance of a tidy and efficient yard with accurate stock control and recording.
  • Ensuring the yard operation is controlled within budget.
  • Managing the yard team including recruitment, training, development and allocation of responsibilities.
  • Ensuring statutory checks and regular maintenance is carried out on commercial vehicles. Ensuring problems with vehicles are dealt with swiftly.
  • Monitoring driver working hours, ensuring tachographs are completed appropriately and held for inspection.
  • Overseeing deliveries of equipment, ensuring the correct equipment is despatched to site on time.
  • Ensuring returned equipment is counted and checked within reasonable timescales, ensuring required maintenance is carried out.
  • Monitoring the condition of returned stock and report on any apparent mishandling.
  • Maintaining effective stock control, carrying out stock checks as required and reporting any suspected stock losses.
  • Ensuring that stock on site is collected as quickly as practical to avoid stock losses or customer dissatisfaction.
  • Ensuring all employees, visitors and sub-contractor are in compliance with H&S policies, procedures and practice. Ensuring that any accident or near miss is properly investigated and accurately recorded.
  • Ensuring faulty equipment is segregated and identified as unfit for use following Company procedures for decommissioning faulty stock.
  • Supporting and promoting a team culture and company values.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Sound knowledge of stock management with an understanding of H&S.
  • Experience managing a busy construction yard.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with good customer focus.
  • Self disciplined with a clear commitment to enforcing quality standards, procedures and achieving results.
  • Positive and helpful manner, can prioritise and resolve issues efficiently.
  • IT literate.
