The purpose of the role is to support in-house staff and external editors in the evaluation and management of issues related to research integrity and help improve quality and trust in our publications.

Core responsibilities Conducting extensive and confidential investigations of suspected research integrity breaches by utilizing various IT and data analytics tools Understand and effectively analyze large volumes of information and data from multiple (internal and external) sources to detect and prevent research integrity breaches. The methods used include data aggregation on various levels, identification of anomalies, trends, patterns and linking internal and external datasets (where appropriate and available). Ensuring accurate documentation and recording of overall investigative activities Maintaining an honest/ethical benchmark when conducting investigations to ensure a non-discriminatory analysis Collaborating with team members and other stakeholders in the organization to develop plans and methods useful in preventing research integrity breaches Providing input for business rules and processes which help in handling and mitigating different categories of research integrity breaches Testing and validating technology solutions that help minimize risks as well as providing recommendations for new solutions.

Core experience, skills and qualifications Educated to at least a graduate level in a STEM or HSS subject with a strong analytical background or equivalent experience (e.g. Criminology, Econometrics, Data Science, Computer Science etc.) Preferably knowledge/experience of the publishing industry, at least familiar with the scientific publication process, Familiar with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) best practices and/or research integrity guidelines/standards Interpretative skills: The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) Ability to think critically Meticulous attention to detail Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Strong problem-solving abilities: Ability to identify complex problems, review related information to develop and explore solutions Manage and prioritize multiple tasks
