Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant/Management Accountant to join our client’s team. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting while supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including supplier management and tax compliance. The successful candidate will take ownership of monthly and quarterly management accounts, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and contribute to long-term financial planning. This position requires strong technical skills, including proficiency with Sage 50, as well as leadership abilities for mentoring other team members. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting & Management Accounts: * Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for reporting to management and stakeholders. 2. Budgeting & Forecasting: * Lead the preparation of annual budgets and periodic re-forecasts, contributing to strategic financial planning and projections. 3. Cost & Asset Management: * Perform cost variance analysis and manage control accounts reconciliations. * Calculate depreciation for property, plant, and equipment and maintain the fixed assets register. * Manage additions to fixed assets and ensure accurate asset tracking. 4. Month-End & Year-End Closures: * Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of audit documentation and VAT returns for multiple entities. * Support audit requests and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. 5. Journal & Reconciliation: * Prepare and post journals for payroll, prepayments, and accruals. * Perform bank reconciliations and manage daily cashbook postings. * Process accounts receivable receipts and manage cash flow effectively. 6. Supplier & Payment Management: * Oversee supplier invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations, including handling international supplier queries. * Manage employee expense claims and ensure efficient processing of payments. 7. Team Leadership & Collaboration: * Train and mentor junior team members, including a Trainee Accountant. * Collaborate with internal teams and liaise with customers and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships. 8. System Proficiency: Work with Sage, for daily accounting tasks, reporting, and analysis and other systems in the finance function. Power BI etc Key Skills & Qualifications: * Qualifications: * professional qualifications: ACCA or and AAT Level 4. * Experience: * Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients and working with small to medium-sized businesses. * Hands-on experience preparing management accounts, financial statements, and tax returns. * Expertise in Sage50 * Skills: * Strong financial reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex reconciliations and asset management
