Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Excellence: Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals that meet diverse dietary needs, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Develop creative menus that reflect cultural diversity.
  • Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the catering team, oversee recruitment, staff training, and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, ensuring full compliance with regulations and managing a clean, organized kitchen.
  • Community Engagement: Promote healthy eating through cooking demonstrations, workshops, and events, encouraging a love of nutritious food within the school community.
  • Sustainability: Implement sustainable practices such as minimizing waste, sourcing local ingredients, and reducing single-use plastics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Catering for large groups: Preferably as a sous chef or head chef in a school or educational setting.
  • Managing kitchen staff: Proven ability to lead and oversee kitchen teams effectively.
  • Handling budgets and financial planning: Demonstrated experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Working with children: Experience interacting with and catering to the needs of children.
  • Cultural diversity in food preparation: Knowledge of diverse dietary preferences is desirable but not essential.
  • Healthy eating and nutrition: Expertise in creating balanced menus and understanding nutritional needs.

Qualifications:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene & Safety
  • Experience in large-scale catering and staff management
