First People Solutions is currently seeking an experienced and proactive HSQE Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor based in Dundee. Our client undertakes civils projects valued between 500k and across the Central Belt of Scotland. The HSQE Manager is responsible for maintaining the company's high standard of health and safety and instilling the safety values of the organisation throughout the business and its workforce. This role entails the continual development, maintenance, monitoring, and coordination of health and safety policies, procedures, and performance, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
Additionally, the HSQE Manager will uphold the company's compliance with environmental legislation and develop environmental policies and procedures in conjunction with the Procurement Director. The role also includes assisting the Operations Manager in the development and auditing of the ISO system, as well as auditing the company's performance in relation to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Audits: Ensure thorough site audits are conducted, manage the safety audit system, and implement improvement plans to reduce accidents.
- Safety Culture: Promote a strong behavioural safety culture, emphasizing compliance with safety rules across the business.
- Relationship Building: Foster relationships with site managers and Client H&S managers for guidance and support.
- ISO Management: Oversee the Integrated Management System, ensuring continued ISO certification.
- Environmental Strategy: Manage the implementation of the Company's Environmental Strategy.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in auditing quality standards and conducting non-conformance report (NCR) investigations.
- Reporting: Prepare quarterly and annual safety reports, analyse performance records, and suggest improvements.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate major safety incidents and collaborate with external consultants to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
Experience Required:
- NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Chartered Membership is essential
- Previous H&S experience within the construction industry.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to implement and manage H&S programmes effectively.
