Our client is a tier one main contractor who is currently operating with a turnover of £20 billion, across the whole group and £100M in the UK. They have offices worldwide; in the UK, their head office is based in the West Country and they have local depots based in London, the West Midlands, and Yorkshire. Their overall specialism in the UK is large Civil Engineering and infrastructure projects, across rail, tunnelling, highways, and bridges. They have worked on large schemes such as Crossrail (Tunnelling & Station upgrades), London Power Tunnels, M4 improvement schemes, Queensferry Crossing & Tottenham Hale Station.
About the Role
My client is currently seeking a Bid Manager to work in the bid winning team on projects that will range in value from £5M - to £500M. The projects will range in location from Scotland down to the South of England but you will be based in Swindon. The types of projects that you will be working on will all be Heavy Civil Engineering projects including Highways Infrastructure, Marine infrastructure, tunnelling infrastructure & Train Station upgrades. You will be joining an experienced team who have been with the company for several years. You will be reporting to the head of bid management and will be working in a team that collaborates with planners, procurement, technical services, HSQE and operational teams. A lot of the Pre Construction team come from an Engineering background so you’ll be working around technical professionals with a wealth of knowledge on how things are built, which should continue to improve your development. Due to the long-term stability of all the members of staff within the Pre-Construction team, they are looking for somebody who can bring fresh ideas and new ways of thinking to help them on their tenders. The Pre-Construction team are extremely friendly, sociable, and very close with each other, they have a strong family feel about them.
The role will include:
* regular meetings with key stakeholders and sub-contractors to build strong relationships.
* prepare presentations and lead mid-bid presentations and post-submission presentations.
* Liaise with the bid team.
* Attend pre and post-award meetings with clients to facilitate the operational and commercial handover of the project.
Benefits and rewards
The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary ranging between £70,000 - £80,000 with the package you will get either a company car or a car allowance, private health care, and a pension.
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (would be preferred).
* Previous experience working in a site related role but have moved into the Pre-Construction department (would be preferred)
* Experience working for a Tier one main contractor within Civil Engineering.
* 2 years’ experience working as a Bid Manager & 8 years experience working within Civil Engineering & Infrastructure.
* UK driving license
