A leading national consultancy is looking for a skilled Building Control Surveyor to join their expanding team in Liverpool.
This role has been created as part of the consultancy's expansion into compliance services following recent changes in the industry related to the Building Safety Act.
The Building Control Surveyor Role
The successful Building Control Surveyor will provide expert advice on Building Regulations, ensuring projects comply with the latest standards and legislation.
You will collaborate with clients across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, retail, office, healthcare, and more. You'll be a key part of the team, attending design meetings, conducting plan checks, and carrying out site inspections to ensure projects are compliant at all stages of the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
Offer professional advice around Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
Undertake plan checks and design reviews to establish compliance for Building Regulation approval.
Attend client and design team meetings to provide expert guidance.
Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, and stakeholders.
Inspect properties and buildings during key stages of the design and construction process.
Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Collaborate with colleagues across the firm, contributing to multi-disciplinary projects.
Be proactive in identifying new business opportunities and contributing to bid submissions.
The Building Control Surveyor
Degree in a construction-related field, ideally in a design-related discipline, or significant relevant experience.
Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, codes, and associated legislation.
Experience of working on multiple projects across sectors such as residential, healthcare, industrial, and infrastructure.
Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
Membership of RICS, CABE, or CIOB is highly desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and attendance at client meetings.
Proficiency in using software such as SharePoint and other project management tools.
A commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintaining industry knowledge.
