I am currently recruiting for an experienced Urban Designer to join an award winning Architectural Practice based in Central London. This is an exciting opportunity for an Urban Designer to work for a market leader with real possibilities to progress within the Company. The company already has over 65 employees working for them and due to success in winning new work they are looking to expand that existing workforce and recruit an Urban Designer.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Urban Designer (2 + years) with excellent design solutions and strategies for a range of projects encompassing residential, mixed use, and commercial commissions. It would be highly desirable if the individual had urban design and master planning experience on projects from feasibility through concept and sketch design to the appropriate level of detail, including to outline planning. The successful applicant will possess at least 2 years work experience in the UK of working on residential projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has a passion for creating amazing outdoor residential and community spaces. The role includes carrying out and overseeing the preparation of conceptual urban design and planning work, feasibility studies, masterplanning, development briefs, design strategies and other design documents. Working with a wider team, this person will manage delegated projects in respect of timescales and client liaison.

Develop design solutions and strategies for a range of projects encompassing residential, mixed use, and commercial commissions;
Developing projects from feasibility through concept and sketch design to the appropriate level of detail, including to outline planning
Prepare high quality visualisations from sketch through to illustrative and presentation standard, and Assist in the preparation of feasibility, design, planning and other documentation, as required, including contributing to the preparation of submissions and fee proposals
Able to manage projects and work effectively in a teamUrban Designer Position Requirements
Minimum of 2+ years of UK based experience working in an architectural practice on residential/mixed-use projects for national house builders or housing developers
Good attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture
Proficient communicator both verbally and written with good hand drawing skills;
Degree in architecture, landscape architecture or planning
Good working knowledge of current urban design issues in a UK context
A strong design flair with an interest in delivering high quality projects from a strategic masterplan level to the details of individual built area and urban spaces
Competence in the use of the full range of design focused packages including AutoCad, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch Up, as well as Microsoft Office suite
Confidence and competence in drawing and sketching by hand
The ability to work and manage projects, with a strong attention to detail
