Job Title: Refugee Resettlement Welfare Officer
Location: Havering
Hours: Mon-Fri 9-5pm
May be required to work evenings, weekends, and occasional public holidays in order to meet service requirements.
Salary: 16.35 hour
Term: temporary currently until April 2025

Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Refugee Resettlement Welfare Officer to join their team. As a Welfare Officer, you will play a vital role in providing advice and welfare support to individuals who have recently arrived in our community. You will also process applications for various services and functions to help them establish an independent life.
Here's a glimpse of what you'll be doing:
- Conducting home visits to ensure the safety and suitability of sponsored housing
- Being part of a "One Stop Shop" approach to provide immediate assistance and eliminate the need for further referral
- Providing accurate translation services and maintaining documentation in multiple languages
- Collaborating with the Resettlement Housing team to escalate and follow up on client housing needs
- Leading activities to engage newly settled communities and contribute to their integration into local culture and life
- Actively communicating with the community to identify new clients and publicise our services
Must speak at least Arabic, Kurdish, Pashto and Dari, other languages are also desirable
What do you need to bring to the table?
- Experience in delivering benefit assessments and advice to individuals in need
- Knowledge of national and local benefits and relief support systems
- Familiarity with online benefit assessment systems like Entitled To
