Business Development Manager - Specialist Services (Total Waste Management) Location - Nationwide A quick look at the role. The Business Development Manager will manage, develop and maintain a pipeline of high value new business opportunities to deliver profitable growth for the Specialist Services division. The post holder will be a senior business development professional, tailoring and developing successfully total waste management solutions for the UK manufacturing sector. The business area the role supports. The Biffa Specialist Services offer requires the Business Development Manager to propose strategic solutions that encompass continuous improvement, cost saving, best practice and environmental sustainability as such, the role suits a solutions oriented, agile commercial lead who is focused on creating value for clients. Development professional able to distil business strategy into careful sector targeting. Effective, detailed pipeline and CRM management. Creating and presenting tailored commercial offerings to potential clients. Effectively promoting the service offering via direct communication in face-to-face meetings, presentations, and tender situations. Actively and successfully managing the entire end to end sales process (lead generation, sales presentations, proposal solutions, negotiation, close, and handover to the operations team). Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner. Working closely with existing operational and account management teams to deliver the ideal solution for the client at agreed profit levels for Biffa. Heres what we require: Sales and development experience, with 3 years or more experience in a comparable field-based business development role. Agile, solutions focused development skillset. Experience of developing, managing and implementing new business services. Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws would be advantageous. Proven track record in sales, selling high value contracted services (the role is focused on accounts worth £500K+ per annum). Presentation, selling, negotiating and influential skills. Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions. Team player, able to work effectively across operations, marketing, bid team support etc. Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively. Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships. Determined and pragmatic approach to delivering to tight deadlines and targets. The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, play well with others.
