My client has a reputation for being a quality specialist contractor who turns over close to £67 million. They specialise in high-quality external works and soft/hard landscaping projects, along with highways and civil engineering projects across the public and private sectors. Their agile and flexible approach has allowed them to adapt and deliver anything from small-scale development and improvements to multi-million-pound projects. Based in London, this contractor collaborates with some of the UK’s finest architects and developers. They have been trusted to produce several once-in-a-lifetime projects such as Battersea Power Station, the externals to Tate Modern, along the urban regeneration to Greenwich Market and Paddington Central.
Project values range from £1 million to £5 million, displaying the business has adaptability across the board with its forward-thinking and innovative approach towards projects. About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join my contractor client based in Islington. This opportunity has come about due to ongoing growth & a large pipeline of projects being won. You will be initially joining their environmental team, working on projects that will need individuals who are passional for landscape transformation in external spaces to encourage public and environmental interactions. The project value will range but it will be around £1M - £5M per scheme. This is an opportunity that allows successful candidates to work on prestigious projects such as Battersea Power Station and the Tate Modern.
This role will to join the sheq team and step in and work alongside the Quality and Compliance manager. You will be part of a team of 8 who all work closely together. This role will be a mixture of a strategic position within the company combined with a hands on site based role.
You will building the carbon reduction strategy and the management systems. The role will also involve being hands on and upskilling the site teams. Creating a social value strategy will also be an important part of the role. This is a hybrid role where you will be either in the office which is in Islington, on site or at home. You will be reporting to the head of sheq and the main thing they are looking for is someone who is passionate and energetic about bringing in their own ideas and developing the role where you will have a lot of freedom to do that.
Requirements
You must have experience working for a contractor based in the UK, ideally with experience in working in soft/hard landscaping but this isn’t essential. I am also looking for someone who has good stability on their CV and is eager to develop their experience in the industry. A related degree like Geography or Environmental and Sustainability would be ideal.
