More about the role:

Newbury Catering is the joint venture with Levy UK, which manages and operates all event catering, hospitality and retail services at Newbury Racecourse. This is a, relatively, new contract and is a joint venture with Newbury Racing, a privately owned company.

As our Junior Sous Chef you will be part of a full time team of 3 (currently 2) with a total brigade exceeding 50 (Chefs and KP's) on busy race days.

Racedays vary in size and can be from 1,500 to 20,000 with hospitality numbers up to 2,000+ across various restaurants and private boxes. Day to day food production for C&E Taking delivery of, recording of and safe storage of deliveries in line with company policy Adherence to company food safety including but not limited to, compliance with HACCP, recording/compliance to allergen policies, personal hygiene, accident reporting, maintenance reporting, adherence to safe working practices Managing food waste in line with company and unit policy Providing coverage for the Nursery Chef during periods of holiday/sickness

About you: Proven experience in a similar quality environment and show good progression to a minimum of Chef de Partie role Passionate about food and hospitality, with a natural flare for guest focus and quality of experience at all levels. An ability to work calmly under pressure, at Newbury we pride ourselves on the lack of conflict between front of house and back of house, particularly on busy days when 'clients' change requirements and both areas are under pressure. Willingness to 'get involved' and deliver beyond the norm - The requirements at a complex venue are never straight forward and the willingness of team members to adapt and step up rather than waiting for others to action is paramount to the teams success
