About the Role The Project Development Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of renewable energy, overseeing the full lifecycle of projects from site origination to financial close. This exciting position involves managing solar, wind, battery storage, and cutting-edge technologies, while leading projects across the UK. You’ll be at the helm of project development, driving initiatives forward, managing stakeholders, coordinating permitting, and ensuring projects meet both commercial and technical requirements. Key Responsibilities Origination and Evaluation Lead the identification and assessment of prime sites for renewable energy projects using advanced tools and strategies. Collaborate with the origination team to refine market entry policies and stay ahead of industry advancements. Oversee comprehensive site assessments, evaluating technical, environmental, financial, and legal factors. Build and manage relationships with landowners, negotiating key terms for site acquisition and development. Spearhead the preparation and submission of grid connection applications, ensuring deadlines and technical requirements are met. Project Development Manage the complete development lifecycle, from project inception to financial close, ensuring timelines, budgets, and milestones are achieved. Oversee project finances, ensuring costs, revenues, and forecasts are aligned with the company’s goals. Lead a team of external consultants, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution. Coordinate planning applications, securing permits and approvals by working closely with planning authorities. Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring smooth progression at every stage. Permitting and Approvals Lead all permitting efforts, including environmental assessments and obtaining necessary planning permissions. Work with local authorities and stakeholders to secure agreements such as Section 106 obligations. Represent the company at public consultations and meetings, advocating for project approvals and addressing community concerns. Commercial Acumen Collaborate with the finance team to assess project viability, using advanced financial models to forecast returns. Drive contract negotiations with landowners, planning consultants, and technical partners, ensuring commercially sound agreements. Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry shifts to maximise project potential. Leadership and Stakeholder Management Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination throughout the project. Represent the company at industry events, acting as an ambassador for their vision of a sustainable energy future. Key Qualifications and Experience Proven experience managing renewable energy projects, particularly in solar, wind, or battery storage technologies. Comprehensive knowledge of the UK renewable energy market, including planning, permitting, and grid connection processes. Proficiency in GIS tools (e.g., QGIS) for site analysis and financial modelling for project evaluation. Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects while aligning with business objectives. Exceptional commercial acumen, with experience negotiating contracts and agreements with key stakeholders. High emotional intelligence and leadership skills, fostering team collaboration and driving successful project outcomes.
