My client is currently recruiting for a Senior Microbiologist within the QC department, to join an experienced and committed team. They are based in Petersfield, Hampshire, UK. This role is based on their Days shift 08.15-16.30. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting accurate analysis, evaluation and release of raw materials, mass and/or finished good in accordance with specifications and standards before being used for production. As well as acting as SME for all Microbiology-related queries and responsible for ensuring all micro standards are upheld across the QC laboratory. This will also include supporting the Microbiology Manager in effectively operating the Microbiology lab and assuring quality of laboratory work is performed. As the Subject Matter Expert, the job role provides expert microbiology, hygiene and quality support for the site, ensuring that Microbiological risks are minimised. Key Responsibilities include: ·        Review annual trend data and write Annual Reports covering Environmental Monitoring and Purified Water system ·        Support the implementation of initiatives related to Microbiology laboratory excellence, formulation and manufacturing process (Incl hygienic design) microbiology risk reduction. ·        Support in resolving microbiology related manufacturing and testing issues, by providing expertise in microbiology and trouble shooting.  ·        Develop training materials/ tools, Perform training, attend Community of Practice meetings  on microbiology as site representative ·        Identify opportunities of improvement, new technologies/tool/ test methods in the area of microbiology to support continuous improvement at site ·        Support internal/ External audits to provide microbiology expertise as appropriate ·        Change Control/CAPA’s author and/or reviewer/approver as appropriate. ·        Write internal standards (SOP, guidances, working instructions etc) as appropriate. ·        Provide technical support to solve micro related issues on site ·        Set Microbiological standards for the site based on regulatory requirements ·        Providing over-sight and expert consultancy to ensure products and processes are microbiologically robust and are manufactured in hygienic equipment within appropriately designed facilities. ·        Ensuring best available microbiological monitoring and testing techniques are in place and in-use Qualifications - External Characteristics of a successful candidate: ·        Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology ·        Prior experience in Cosmetics, Pharmaceutical (or related) industry ideally ·        Involvement in trouble shooting of microbiological issues within manufacturing processes ·        Experience working with cross-functional teams ·        Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO and safety guidelines ·        Solid knowledge of plant hygiene ·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic QMS, and SAP/LIMS systems is preferred ·        Excellent communication (oral and written) ·        Excellent interpersonal skills ·        Excellent technical knowledge of microbiology ·        Ability to establish internal standards in microbiology based on current regulations and internal requirements ·        Results-driven individual with a strong customer and quality focus
