Electrical Project Manager

1st Step Solutions is representing a mechanical and electrical principal contractor seeking an Electrical Project Manager for a prestigious six-story building project in London, set to begin mid November 2024.
The project primarily focuses on electrical work, although there will be a minor component of construction tasks to oversee. Programme of works will include replacing electrical infrastructure, armored cables, sub mains, switchboards.
Given that the building is occupied, some work will require out-of-hours attendance, including occasional weekday evenings and approximately 8-10 weekend shutdowns, necessitating the presence of site management from the principal contractor.
Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with leading and guiding the delivery team. This role involves ensuring outstanding operational performance while overseeing both in-house and subcontracted resources. The candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring these teams to achieve cost-effective and high-quality results that prioritise customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
This role will primarily involve overseeing the operational project team to ensure that all activities align with the project's program, budget, safety, and quality objectives.
You will hold overall accountability for the installation of Building Services within your projects.
Your goal will be to deliver high-quality installations that meet client expectations while maximising profitability and managing costs without compromising our standards.
Ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget, adhering to the agreed-upon standards, while effectively managing the project budget and expenses.
Oversee staff performance by clearly defining their roles and responsibilities on the project.
Continuously promote Health & Safety, ensuring that risks are identified and appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
Encourage the sharing of best practices and foster a culture of innovation.
Take charge of ensuring a seamless final handover process.
Qualifications/Skills:
HNC/HND in Building Services or a higher qualification - Preferred.
CSCS/IOSH/SMSTS certifications.
Knowledge of BSth Edition wiring regulations.
Proven experience in a senior role on electrical projects, with a strong background in full contract management.
Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
Ability to take on responsibilities and meet project goals within set timelines.
Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
Understanding of health and safety regulations and ongoing risk assessment/control.
Skilled in fostering and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Represent the organisation in a professional, organised manner to ensure timely and safe project completion while meeting financial expectations.
