SEND Teaching Assistant – Gillingham – ASAP ** Location: Gillingham, Kent ** Start: ASAP ** Placement: Full-time, Long term ** Specialist Independent School ** Pay rate: £85-£100 Twenty4Seven Education is seeking a resilient and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to work within a ‘Good’ Ofsted rated Specialist Independent School. This exciting new role is to start ASAP on a full-time long term basis. The School caters for children aged 11-19 who receive an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Some students have been identified by their mainstream provisions as being at risk of permanent exclusion, whilst some have already reached that point. Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 and/or small group support to reinforce learning expectations * Offer personalised assistance to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), School Phobia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or Attachment Disorder * Help implement and monitor any Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) * Help provide a safe, stimulating and structured environment * Support students in managing their behaviour and regulating their emotions following the school behaviour policy * Maintain clear and professional communication with other colleagues, professionals and parents/carers regarding student progress, well-being and any arising issues * Assist in preparing teaching materials and classroom resources * Keep accurate records of student activities, progress and behaviour Qualifications & Experience: * Minimum Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent * Experience working with children with SEND within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience) * Child and Adult DBS check on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process) * You can demonstrate a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with children * You have excellent communication and teamwork skills * You are committed to creating a supportive learning environment The Benefits of Twenty4Seven Education: * T4S is an accredited REC member * 24/7 support from your designated dedicated and friendly consultant * Competitive pay rates * Recommend-a-Friend Scheme * Opportunities for further professional training from our Education Support at Twenty4Seven Education * FREE safeguarding training Twenty4Seven Education is dedicated to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
