About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to support our diverse adult caseload, focusing on both dysphagia and communication therapies for clients with complex conditions, including acquired and progressive neurological disorders. Based at the Willesden Centre for Health & Care, this role offers the unique opportunity to provide both domiciliary and outpatient care, enriching the patient experience and enabling positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Independent Case Management: Deliver assessment and therapy services to adults with complex speech, language, and swallowing needs, including a significant number of clients for whom English is an additional language (EAL).

*

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team at the Willesden Centre and contribute to joint assessments, service planning, and team-based care.

*

Clinical Development & Supervision: Receive regular supervision (1:1 and peer), and take an active role in supporting junior staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria

*

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent

*

Registration with HCPC

*

Registration with relevant professional body

*

Dysphagia competent

Desirable criteria

*

Registration with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

*

Evidence of further study e.g. postgraduate degree, short courses relating to community setting

Experience

Essential criteria

*

Management of neurological and long term conditions

*

Assessment & treatment of complex clients with speech, language, communication needs and dysphagia

*

Working with carers & MDT

*

Writing reports and maintaining case notes

*

Delivering and evaluating training

*

Management of own caseload

*

Applying the principals of research methodology through clinical audit

*

Developing reflective clinical practice in self

Desirable criteria

*

Member of a relevant CEN

*

Experience of working in acute and community settings as well as in nursing homes.

*

Experience of supervising junior members of staff

*

Stammering training

*

LSVT training

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

*

Knowledge of assessment tools relating the neurological/community client group with speech, language, communication and dysphagia needs.

*

Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions relating to the neurological/community client group with speech, language, communication and dysphagia needs

*

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

*

Excellent interpersonal skill
