Job Requirements / Description
About the Role We are looking for a talented junior disputes lawyer (1-2 years PQE) to join our dynamic and growing team in London. You should have experience working on arbitration or litigious matters from a highly regarded London practice. Our firm has a strong sector focus in commodities, maritime and energy, so a knowledge of/experience in some or all of those sectors would be helpful, but not essential. You will be assisting our engaged partners and working with industry leading clients on a number of disputes across our key sectors. You will be fully supported by our London team and a crucial part of the running, management and strategy of the cases you are involved in. About FZ FZ is a truly international law firm with an international client base consisting of six offices in the UK, Europe, US and Australia. We collaborate closely with those offices from our London team. International long/short term secondment opportunities arise regularly at the firm. We are a close-knit team, focused on delivering excellent service to our clients across the international trade, commodities, energy and maritime sectors. We have a growing team of exceptional lawyers with a variety of backgrounds and education. We all genuinely enjoy the work we do. Our work is highly collaborative – expect to ‘kick about’ ideas within the team and discuss the finer details of the legal arguments with anyone keen to listen. We are based on High Holborn, near Holborn station. The office is a great space to work closely with the team (and to enjoy lunches and post-work drinks). We do not insist on full time “in office” work, but we do encourage people to be in regularly to work closely with one another. We will not consider remote applicants. Candidates We are looking for someone with: Experience in working in our core sectors of marine, commodities and energy. Either in a disputes or non-contentious context (or both) and with particular experience in arbitration. A genuine interest in law and the legal principles at the heart of any dispute or drafting request. A creative and analytical thinker, adept at problem solving and finding solutions to difficult issues. 1-2 years PQE, with great training and experience in disputes/arbitration/litigation from a top London city firm (ideally the candidate will be currently at a London law firm). A strong interest in international trade, commodities and maritime disputes (although legal experience in these fields is not necessary and you will be handling matters outside of these disciplines in the role). The confidence to manage their own case load and to take an active, client facing role in case management. Excellent academics, with at least a 2:1 or equivalent. English law qualified. Equal Opportunities We are an equal opportunities employer and do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age. How to apply Nothing in the above is exhaustive. If you feel that you have the right fit for our team, please send us a CV and a cover letter and we will be very interested to hear from you.
