Our client is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Agent to help establish and manage the delivery of logistical operations associated with a large technical civil engineering project.
Due to the site being a high Security Military Navy base, additional security checks will need to be made - BPSS/SC level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU & NATO member passports can be considered for this role.
Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Site Agent will include:
The Management and oversight of all areas of the project which have been assigned to you and delivering successful project outcomes.
Support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety & Environmental policies and project procedures.
Communicating effectively at all levels including site management, technical specialists, commercial staff, planners, engineers, supervisory staff operatives, suppliers, third parties and client representatives.
Maintaining high personal standards in health and safety and supporting others in the same.
Maintaining high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour.
Driving quality delivery through effective planning and right first-time delivery.
Leading, supervising, and mentoring your reportees and other team members.
Managing, supervising, and mentoring the project team as appropriate.
Maintaining a good working relationship with the client and his/her project management and supervisory team and the supply chain.
Encouraging repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
Establishing written processes for logistical operations and material management
Establishing, maintaining and monitoring an effective, programme-based cost management system, to facilitate financial control with reliable preparation and reporting.
Ensuring realistic programmes are prepared, managed, monitored, reviewed, and updated according to the requirements of the project and contract.
Ensuring processes are in place for the preparation, review and briefing of method statements, activity plans and risk assessments and measures implemented to ensure they are reviewed and updated accordingly.
Ensuring systems are in place for the timely preparation of records for payment purposes in appropriate form.
Ensuring all necessary site-based appointments are made with suitably trained and experienced staff.
Using appropriate and effective communication methods such as recorded internal weekly progress meetings to communicate with the whole project team.
Keeping line management appraised of potential risks and opportunities associated with the project and the potential for future work opportunities.
Maintaining close working relationship with project and parent company support departments to ensure the project receives maximum support and can maximise opportunities for the sharing of knowledge.
Maintaining a close working relationship with the procurement department to ensure compliant and advantageous procurement arrangements for the project.
Supporting all staff under your supervision in achieving their own performance and development goals.
Keeping abreast of progress and developments in the industry and specific professional fields.
Establishing close working relationship with Works supervisory staff (Works Managers/General Foreman) to ensure the cost-effective management of labour and plant.
Leading and managing all staff and personnel assigned to you.
Key characteristics needed:

Must be able to demonstrate leadership and management capabilities.

Specific Working Knowledge of the construction and engineering techniques and NEC form of contract.

Prior experience working with reinforced concrete, and civils is essential.

Able to take the lead with client interfaces and manage project delivery on technical and business aspects of team outputs, including excellent communication and project management, leading and managing technical teams within a competitive business environment.

Experience in similar role.

Familiar with Quality Management System and familiar in writing RAMS.

Who are we looking for?

Relevant qualification- Degree, HND/HNC, NVQ in Construction/Engineering/Logistics or equivalent.

CSCS Level - Academically or Professionally Qualified Person/Manager.

May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with an appropriate professional body.

Familiar in large scale construction logistics operations

Understanding of consents, logistics, Vehicle Management Systems and traffic management
