The team are looking to recruit a dynamic Principal Divisional Clinical Pharmacist to join their Surgical Division. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced pharmacist seeking a new challenge in a leadership role with a focus on critical care and surgery. Job Overview As the Principal Divisional Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a key role in leading and delivering a high-quality clinical pharmacy service across the Surgical Division. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medication use, improve patient care, and drive efficiencies, with a focus on high-cost medicines and minimizing drug wastage. This role will also involve supporting the digital transformation of the pharmacy service, particularly through the integration of the EPIC electronic patient record system. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management: Lead the clinical pharmacy service for the Surgical Division, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and supporting a collaborative working environment. You will also manage a team of pharmacy staff, providing clinical guidance, support, and training. Clinical Support: Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services, ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines across the division. You will work closely with clinical teams to optimise patient outcomes, with a focus on high-cost and critical care medications. Digital Transformation: Play a key role in supporting the implementation and ongoing development of the EPIC electronic patient record, including electronic prescribing, administration, and stock control systems. Cross-Site Collaboration: Work across multiple Trust sites to ensure consistency in clinical pharmacy services and promote best practices in surgical care. Service Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of clinical pharmacy services within the Surgical Division, ensuring alignment with Trust-wide policies, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and clinical standards. Experience (Essential) Extensive post-registration experience with substantial experience in hospital pharmacy. Demonstrable experience in clinical pharmacy across a variety of specialties, particularly within critical care and surgery. Experience in managing and supporting pharmacy teams. Proven track record in implementing and evaluating medicines-related audits, guidelines, and educational programs. Familiarity with electronic prescribing systems and digital transformation initiatives. Qualifications (Essential) Vocational master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, plus examined pre-registration training. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Postgraduate qualification in pharmacy practice. Evidence of continuing professional development. Desirable Criteria Prescriber status or willingness to undertake prescribing training. Leadership or management qualifications. Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
