Veterinary Laboratory Assistant - Night shift Leamington Spa, UK £24,000 - £26,000 Antech Diagnostics are looking for a Veterinary Lab Assistant to join our brand-new, state-of-the-art veterinary laboratory based in the Leamington Spa area. This opportunity would be well suited to you if you have previous experience as a Veterinary Lab Assistant (VLA), a Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) or experience working within specimen reception. This is a full time position with varying night shifts between the hours of 10pm - 10am across Monday - Friday with a Saturday rota. You may also work one week of day shift per month, depending on business requirements. Key responsibilities include: Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures. Remove specimens from transport bags, enter patient, client and specimen data, label specimens and aliquot as needed. Sort specimens for distribution throughout the lab. Ensure Turnaround Times (TATs) are met. Comply with appropriate specimen storage requirements. Maintain inventory of specimens after testing has been completed. Ensure all specimens are accounted for. Retrieve and prepare add-ons and rechecks. Read, understand and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines. Comply with laboratory Health and Safety procedures. Maintain clean and organised work area. Restocks supplies as needed. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Proven laboratory experience ideally within a veterinary or clinical setting Attention to detail Organised with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic math, interpretive and analytical skills.
