Network Security Engineer

Network Security Engineer Location: Bolton, BL5 1EE Onsite: 1/2 days per week The Opportunity: Europe’s 1 Integrated Defence Company seeks a talented Network Security Engineer to join its Information Management Team which supports the organisation's critical network infrastructure. The Role: As a Network Security Engineer, you're the first line of defence. You’ll manage and configure security appliances, deploy cryptographic systems, and collaborate with industry-leading suppliers to maintain airtight network security. Deep-diving into technical documentation, you'll provide high-level consultancy, and support the architecture behind mission-critical networks. Your job? Ensure the network remains impenetrable, with excellence as your baseline, not the exception. Essential Requirements: Nationality and Clearance: British-born, sole British national, and willing to obtain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance. Networking: Solid understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, and load balancing. Firewall Expertise: Strong skills in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting various firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto) and experience with next-gen firewalls and advanced security features like IPS/IDS, SSL decryption, and deep packet inspection. Secure Proxy Management: Proven experience managing secure proxy solutions (e.g., BlueCoat, F5) and implementing policies for content filtering, SSL inspection, and network traffic monitoring. Security Protocols: In-depth knowledge of security protocols such as IPSec, SSL/TLS, VPNs, and two-factor authentication, along with an understanding of network architectures and security zones (DMZ, internal networks). Benefits Package: Base salary: Up to £70,000 (DoE) Annual Bonus: Up to 21% Pension: 14% (6% Employee and 8% Employer) Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Share Incentive Plan: Opportunity to purchase shares via payroll before tax and NI.
