About the opportunity: As part of my client’s ongoing expansion and confirmed future workload, they have identified the need to recruit a permanent Graduate Remediation Engineer to assist with the technical delivery of remediation and enabling projects. Based from their office in Essex, you will be required to travel to sites throughout the South East and be responsible for the following: * Co-ordinating / appointing technical/environmental subcontractors * Assisting with production of remediation strategies, materials management plans, method statements, risk assessments * Assisting with obtaining licences, permits and regulatory approvals including compilation of supporting technical information * Drawings, including basic use of Autocad (full training provided) * Working with site personnel to ensure projects are implemented safely * Monitoring environmental emissions and ensuring controls are implemented * Direct / supervise site activities such as excavations, drilling etc * Set up, operate and maintain soil and water treatment systems * Carrying out verification contamination sampling, scheduling laboratory analysis and assessing results in compliance with the specification / strategy * Arranging laboratory and site geotechnical / earthworks testing * Waste classification and managing duty of care for disposal * Use of GPS equipment to record and set out basic information * Maintaining and using equipment such as PID, noise meter, CBR probe etc * Ensure site records are up to date (e.g. stockpile registers, validation records) * Overseeing and tracking material movements * Assisting with co-ordinating / appointing subcontractors * Ongoing liaison with clients representatives or third party verification engineers * Compilation of data and drafts for verification / completion reports, health & safety files etc. About the requirements: As a Graduate Remediation Engineer, you will be degree qualified in a related discipline (civil engineering, environmental science or geology). Some knowledge of soil and groundwater sampling, remediation approaches and earthworks is desirable, although full training will be provided as required. A valid driving license is essential as the role will involve a reasonable amount of travel to projects throughout the South East and may require you to work away from home (full subsistence will be covered). About the benefits and rewards: For this exciting opportunity, the salary on offer has been left negotiable as the specifics will depend on previous experience and suitability however professionals can expect to target a remuneration between £27,000 - £30,000 per annum.
