Behaviour Mentor | Islington, North London | ASAP Start
Job title: Behaviour Mentor
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Salary: £90 - £105
Location: Islington, North London
The school:
This school provides alternative education through a Performing Arts and Media curriculum. Now housed in a new building at the heart of North London's Tech City area, facilities have been purpose built to offer a range of high specification specialist teaching spaces including a Theatre, Dance Studio, Recording Studio, Music Technology Suites, Film and Photography Studios.
They believe that education has the power not only to enrich lives, but to transform them. Whatever the needs or previous experience of their learners, their creative curriculum is designed to ignite a love of learning. Their offer ensures that students experience an individualised approach which enables them to grow and flourish as emerging professionals within a culture of creativity and collaboration. They challenge pupils to take responsibility, modify their behaviour, improve attitudes to school life and make academic progress across the range and breadth of curriculum opportunities available.
The role of a Behaviour Mentor:
As a behaviour mentor at this school, you will be expected to provide excellent care and promote all students to improve behaviour through educational vices whilst also supporting and managing social and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualised support to students with ASD and SEMH needs, promoting their well-being and encouraging positive behaviour.
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and other professionals to develop tailored educational plans that meet the specific needs of each student.
Help students feel accepted in their differences and channel new outlooks to feed an exceptional future. The leadership believe that there are no "bad" kids, just impressionable, conflicted young people wrestling emotions and impulses.
Assist in implementing effective teaching strategies and interventions to enhance the learning experience for students with SEMH.
Create an environment safe enough for them to find new ways to communicate and process these feelings.
Requirements of a Behaviour Mentor:
Previous experience working as an LSA or youth mentor, with a focus on ASD and SEMH.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies and interventions.
Relevant qualifications and certifications in SEN support are desirable but not essential.
