Transforming the lives of children with Lily Residential Services: Join Us as a Senior Residential Childcare Worker. Job Type: Full-time 39hrs, Permanent Salary: 39-hour contract: £31,785.00 - £32,286.80 (including sleep-in rate) Hourly rate range £12.50 £13.10 Sleep-in rate £55.00 (average of 2.25 sleep-ins per week) (Salary scales are dependent on qualifications and previous experience) Welcome Bonus of up to £1,500 (T&Cs apply) The Role: Senior Residential Childcare Worker A Senior Residential Childcare Worker, provides a safe, comfortable, and supportive home for the children who are in care who have experienced trauma and/or neglect. You will hold the lead responsibility for each shift worked and ensure that tasks and paperwork have been completed for each shift. You will be the identified person in charge in the absence of any other senior management member. You will maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Lily Residential Services. Working within the guidelines from the 1989 Children Act, Childrens Homes Regulations and quality standards and any other relevant legislation. As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will be involved in supporting the young person(s) activities such as: Outdoor activities, beach days, walks around the parks or local area, cycling, paddle boarding, movie nights in, adventure parks, weekly house takeaways and meals out. As a role model to our young people you will provide daily care and support to children and young people to make sure they can make good choices. Teaching and promoting life skills to help the child develop independence and self-sufficiency. You will support in the running of the home such as cooking the home meals, cleaning, supporting in maintaining a home that our young people want to live in, first aid, health and safety, gardening, growing your own veg (if space allows!). As a Senior Residential Childcare Specialist, you will also: Give guidance and support to Residential Childcare Workers. Communicate to the Registered Manager about the day to day running of the home and when any difficulties arise. Oversee correct practice around behaviour management and the reporting and recording of incidents. Ensure that staff have good understanding of the homes policies and procedures, and these are being followed at all times. Challenge poor practice if it occurs. Oversee the meeting of the needs of children and ensure that any agreed plans are up to date and effective. Promote and encourage liaison with other professionals, such as the social worker, IRO and education providers. Understand the process and teams of Child Protection Services, LADO, Safeguarding and their roles and responsibilities within those organisations. Support the Registered Manager to collect, prepare and analysis the relevant data and prepare reports to support in driving the best practice. Knowledge of relevant legislation and practice for childrens homes and the role of the regulator (Ofsted). To report and respond to emergency situations in line with policy and procedures, emergency services, reporting missing children and following PAN Dorset safeguarding procedures. Listen to complaints from children or families, learn from complaints and use them to improve the service. Providing informal practical and emotional support to colleagues experiencing difficulties. Working to the on call procedure with other Senior, Deputies and Managers. If on shift with no other Managers on Duty, taking ownership and own initiative to problem solve. To collaborate as a part of the team whilst driving co-production, team development, leading by example and being supportive to drive engagement and team cohesiveness. Key holder responsibility of security of building. To support in the delivery whilst contributing to meetings that will take place in the home or Head Office. Attend training when nominated and complete all mandatory training. To take ownership of your own training and development through continuous professional development. To support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in managing any allegations or safeguarding issues that arise in the home. Work in shifts, including weekends and sleep-in shifts, to ensure round-the-clock support. About You: You are passionate about making a difference in childrens lives. You will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). We welcome those new to the field but have the relevant qualifications who can demonstrate a strong passion towards improving children's lives and a desire to develop a vocation in childcare (Full training will be provided). You are reliable, compassionate, and have excellent communication skills. A driving license is required.
