Edenthorpe Search are exclusively appointed to identify a MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) for a leading global payments business. This US headquartered business is expanding its services and products here in the UK. As well as traditional payments the business is now seeking to add crypto trading, purchases and custody. Reporting to a US based head of compliance the MLRO join the team in London, ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements, including those set by the FCA, while effectively managing risks related to money laundering and financial crime. As the MLRO, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) activities. You will ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, particularly those issued by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and maintain robust internal policies and procedures to mitigate financial crime risks. Key Responsibilities : Act as the primary point of contact with the FCA, ensuring compliance with all FCA regulations, including reporting obligations. Develop and implement an effective AML and CTF framework in line with UK regulations. Conduct regular AML risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks. Manage the company’s transaction monitoring systems and suspicious activity reporting (SAR) processes. Train and mentor internal teams on AML/CTF best practices and emerging threats. Lead the company’s response to regulatory inquiries and audits. Oversee due diligence, onboarding, and ongoing monitoring of customers, particularly within the crypto space. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of regulatory developments and implement changes accordingly. Requirements : Proven experience as an MLRO or senior compliance officer in a payments or crypto-related business. In-depth knowledge of FCA regulations and UK AML/CTF laws. Experience working with digital assets and cryptocurrencies is essential. Strong communication skills to liaise with regulators and internal stakeholders.
