Copello have partnered with an established defence technology business in the recruitment of a Project Engineering Manager. This position will play a key role in the delivery of an innovative multiyear project. This role will be based in Harlow and offers 1-2 days hybrid working. Candidates will ideally be eligible for SC Clearance for this particular position due to the nature of the project. Key Responsibilities: * Lead a multidisciplinary team of technical experts in engineering, overseeing the development and delivery of global sensor and weapon products and services for diverse customers worldwide. * Generate and coordinate engineering development plans, ensuring execution aligns with the business’s standards and gating model, and meets the overall program needs from the early bidding phase to final delivery. * Manage work packages for the team, including planning, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators, while collaborating closely with the Program Manager and the Integrated Program Team. * Serve as the primary external technical contact for key internal and external customer organizations, providing regular status updates using established methods and metrics. * Maintain close collaboration with the Design Authority to ensure the technical integrity of programs. * Oversee risk and change management for all engineering deliverables, implementing effective planning, mitigation strategies, and monitoring to reduce risks or achieve closure. * Ensure adherence to the program’s baseline schedule and budget, utilizing earned value management techniques. * Manage both direct and indirect team members across disciplines, including resource planning, performance goal setting, recognition, and timesheet management. Candidate Requirements: Essential: * Experience managing delivery of complex multi-disciplined development programmes. * Experience in systems engineering and guidance of multidiscipline, through engineering development cycle. * Clear understanding of financial management and impacts on programmes. * Strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management. * Competent delivering efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business needs. * Ability to work independently, as well as within a team and the ability to advise programme teams and stakeholders. * Broad based technical background with experience in systems design and integration. * Knowledge of software development and delivery methodologies * BSc / BEng. in Engineering, Science, or Aeronautical Engineering. Desirable: * Experience within UK/US International defence industry or similar adjacent industry
