Our success is driven by strong leadership and an ISO accredited organisational culture of continual improvement and clear communication.
We proudly place client satisfaction at the very heart of our business and apply our extensive resources and proven dedication to understanding and delivering our client’s needs. Through this client-centered approach, we build on the quality and longevity of the relationships we have, and the majority of our work is gained through repeat business.
The Role of Bid Writer
We have a great opportunity for a talented and motivated Bid Writer to join our successful, growing, work-winning team. It is a full-time position, based in Preston with flexible working options and an attractive salary and benefits package. You will be offered the ability to author bid content that articulates developed win themes, to support the submission of the highest quality bids to clients, within the public and private civil engineering sectors. You will support content creation, with market research and by liaising with other team members and technical specialists, to produce written content for bids, presentations and marketing material. This is a time-critical role that requires adherence to strict deadlines. Content will be business-focused and will be closely related to the social value aims of our Charitable Trust owned Group.
The main duties and responsibilities of the Bid Writer will include but not be limited to:
* Confirm the requirements of individual bids and work to the deadline
* Participate in bid kick-off meetings and key reviews, inputting into the proposal structure and deliverables programme
* Contribute relevant ideas for identifying win themes and developing bid submissions to the company's advantage in order to present the company's strengths
* Author, edit and proof-read bid submission documents for PQQs, tender bids and frameworks bids
* Take ownership of key topics, such as Social Value, Sustainability, Business Continuity and Business Processes
* Adopt and develop technical and construction methodology responses to ensure common win themes are consistent through the bid
* Present both technical and non-technical information, in a reader friendly way, highlighting the features and benefits
* Research the subject, client, sector or competitor and formulate strategies to differentiate and highlight our bids in comparison
* Provide style guides and writer instructions to all members of the bid team
* Proactively work with a network of subject matter experts from across the businesses, challenging their thinking to support them in developing solutions
* Provide best practice advice and lessons learnt from past proposals, including client feedback
* Creating a strong and effective contact network within the business
* Drive the continuous improvement of the Bid Library, including creation of boilerplate responses, CV’s and case studies
* Contribute to presentations and other materials for tender interviews etc
* Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role
About You
Our ideal Bid Writer candidate will have strong writing skills, with demonstrated experience in bid writing and work winning. While experience in the construction/civils sectors is beneficial, it is not mandatory. We value effective communication, creative and persuasive writing, attention to detail, and the ability to present thorough research. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can manage their time, prioritise tasks, and contribute value to our bids and clients. If you are ambitious, people-oriented, inquisitive, passionate, organised, and able to build relationships quickly, we encourage you to apply. A proactive and flexible approach to changing circumstances and the evolving needs of the business is essential.
