JOB TITLE -   PSV Chargehand  LOCATION – Stevenage  Salary circa £55,000 plus overtime Monday to Friday Day shift Overtime at time and ½ Free bus travel for yourself, partner, and eligible children Life assurance Cycle to Work scheme On-line benefits site offering discounts from varied retailers Variety of training and development opportunities  The Company   Our client, who provide bus and train services are currently looking for skilled PSV Chargehand to join their busy team in Stevenage on a Monday to Friday day shift Engineers are an essential part of the team who ensure that all vehicles are in safe and roadworthy condition for their customers. People are our priority; being on time every time means that our customers will travel with us time after time. With more than 4,000 buses to be maintained and kept clean across their various operating companies, the engineering departments are fundamental to the smooth operation of our business. There is also an opportunity for further training and promotion; in fact, the majority of our engineering management team were once bus mechanics themselves.   The Role of a PSV Chargehand To carry out repairs and diagnostics on vehicles as required. To stand in for Workshop Controller/Foreman when he is not available To carry out quality checks of the technicians work to enable good standard repairs are maintained at all times To assist with Training and development of the apprentice's including checking and sign off their work To assist technicians with problem repairs and provide technical advice where necessary Carry out vehicle inspections and repairs to VOSA standards and in line with Company procedures Demonstrate good diagnosis skills Comply with Depot specific health and safety rules and regulations and ensure the correct PPE is worn/used throughout and report any failings through the reporting procedure Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly, legible and handed in on time. Maintain a clean and tidy work area and ensure all tooling and specialist equipment is checked, tested and compliant in line with company policy. Maintain sufficient security measures to prevent theft of company/personal property during and after normal working hours.Skills & Experience NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 2/3. IRTEC Certified preferred but not essential To be fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment. Must be in the possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence. Good communication skills. Exceptional organisational skills.What’s on offer?
