Overview of Position We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team at Cognisco, a leading competency and skills management SaaS platform provider. The BDM will be responsible for developing and managing the full sales cycle - from outreach and prospecting to lead qualification and closing deals. The BDM will work closely with the CEO, meeting regularly to review performance, align strategies, and provide key updates on the sales pipeline. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working across industries including public sector, finance, rail, construction, and utilities, with a strong background in technology and/or SaaS sales, preferably in HR workforce technologies. Key Responsibilities ● Lead Generation & Sales Pipeline Management: Proactively generate qualified sales appointments and platform demonstrations, ensuring productivity targets are met. ● Sales Cycle Ownership: Manage the complete sales process, from prospecting to deal closure, ensuring a seamless customer journey. ● Consultative Selling: Understand client pain points, industry trends, and the competitive landscape to effectively position Cognisco’s offerings. ● Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of Cognisco’s product and services, confidently demonstrating the platform and explaining its benefits to clients. ● Messaging and Branding: Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to align sales efforts with brand messaging and marketing activities. ● CRM Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact records, sales activities, and pipeline progression in the CRM system. ● Reporting: Provide regular and timely sales reports, activity summaries, and performance insights to the CEO and other key stakeholders. ● Proposal & Tender Management: Assist in collating tender and RFP responses with input and support from other business areas. Qualifications & Skills: ● Experience: Proven experience in B2B sales, with a focus on technology and/or SaaS platforms; knowledge of HR workforce technologies is highly preferred. ● Consultative Selling: Demonstrated ability to engage in a consultative sales process, understanding client needs and tailoring solutions accordingly. ● Industry Knowledge: Capable of selling across multiple industries, including public sector, finance, rail, construction, and utilities. ● Self-Motivation and Independence: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle the full sales cycle with minimal supervision. ● Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively. ● CRM Proficiency: Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activities and maintain accurate records. ● Technology Savvy: Comfortable using business tools such as CRM, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email marketing platforms, and virtual meeting tools. ● Drive & Resilience: A results-driven mindset with a passion for success, coupled with the tenacity and resilience required to thrive in a sales environment.
