Job Purpose The Facade Engineering Director will be responsible for leading and growing the façade engineering division within my clients London office, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable facade solutions. The role requires strategic oversight of multiple projects, nurturing key client relationships, business development, and technical leadership, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of facade engineering in London and globally. Key Responsibilities Leadership Lead and manage the facade engineering team, ensuring a collaborative and high-performance culture. Develop and implement the strategic vision for the façade engineering department, aligned with overall company goals. Oversee all aspects of façade projects, from design through to installation and completion, ensuring they meet technical, quality, and financial benchmarks. Ensure the continuous development of team members, providing mentorship and fostering technical excellence. Project Management Oversee the delivery of façade engineering services on a range of prestigious building projects (commercial, residential, mixed-use, etc.) in London and internationally. Work closely with architects, contractors, and developers to provide technical guidance and ensure facade designs are both innovative and buildable. Lead design reviews, providing expert advice to resolve complex engineering challenges related to facades. Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards while mitigating risks and managing resource allocation. Business Development Drive business growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, both locally and internationally. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, architects, developers, and other stakeholders. Actively participate in industry forums, conferences, and networking events to enhance the company's presence and reputation. Prepare and present proposals for new projects and work with the leadership team to define pricing strategies and contractual terms. Technical Expertise & Innovation Serve as the technical authority for facade engineering, providing direction on complex and innovative design solutions. Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, materials, technologies, and regulations to ensure the firm stays ahead of the curve in façade engineering. Drive sustainability initiatives within the facade team, ensuring that designs adhere to the highest standards of environmental performance and meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Lead research and development (R&D) activities, working to introduce new facade materials, technologies, and methodologies. Financial Management Monitor and manage the financial performance of the façade engineering division, ensuring profitability and the efficient use of resources. Collaborate with the finance team to create accurate forecasts, monitor budget adherence, and report regularly to senior management on key financial metrics. Support the company in setting and achieving revenue targets related to façade services. Key Requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master's or chartered status preferred). Professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, MIStructE, RIBA, or equivalent). CIBSE Membership SFE Membership Skills & Experience At least 10 years of experience in façade engineering, with significant leadership experience in a consultancy or contractor environment. A proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex façade engineering projects, ideally across multiple sectors (commercial, residential, high-rise, etc.). Extensive experience working with architects, contractors, and developers. Familiarity with UK building regulations, standards, and safety requirements for façades.
