Housekeeping Manager We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager for a care home based in Magherafelt. In this role, you'll lead and manage a dedicated housekeeping team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and staff alike. You will ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and regulatory compliance, with particular attention to supporting the personal needs and dignity of each resident. Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily cleaning of all areas within the care home, including resident rooms, communal spaces, kitchens, and bathrooms. Ensure deep cleaning routines are established and consistently followed. Inspect rooms and common areas regularly to meet cleanliness and hygiene standards. Promptly address housekeeping requests or issues, ensuring efficient resolution. Ensure all cleaning practices comply with health and safety standards, infection control, and hygiene regulations. Train housekeeping staff on the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations. Conduct routine risk assessments for housekeeping tasks, implementing improvements where needed. Manage stock levels for cleaning supplies, linen, and other materials, ensuring efficient use of resources. Maintain and service all cleaning equipment to ensure functionality and safety. Collaborate with Nurse Managers to respect the dignity and preferences of residents in maintaining their personal spaces. Ensure the timely and efficient operation of laundry services for residents. Provide responsive housekeeping support for residents with specific needs, including mobility challenges or health conditions. Assist with housekeeping budget management by monitoring costs and promoting cost-effective resource use. Supervise any external cleaning contractors or agency staff. Requirements Essential Criteria: Prior experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting. Strong leadership skills, with a track record of motivating and developing a team. High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail to ensure the care home meets hygiene and safety requirements. Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff, residents, and suppliers. Knowledge of health and safety regulations, infection control protocols, and COSHH guidelines. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing demands effectively. Preferred Criteria: Ability to perform physical tasks related to cleaning (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods). Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed. Empathy and understanding of the needs of elderly or vulnerable residents in a care setting.
