About the role:
Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working with children on the autism spectrum, particularly non-verbal students? We are looking for an empathetic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist to join a warm, inclusive, and supportive primary school in Hackney, London. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students who need your patience and care. This role is ideal for someone with experience in SEN, particularly with non-verbal students. While qualifications in special education are preferred, we are also open to applicants who have substantial experience and a passion for working with children on the autism spectrum.
Application Requirements:
• Have experience working with children with SEN, specifically those on the autism spectrum.
• Are patient, empathetic, and creative in their approach to supporting non-verbal students.
• Are committed to fostering a positive learning environment.
• Have strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Hold relevant SEN qualifications (preferred but not essential).
Key Responsibilities:
• Support non-verbal students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Assist in lesson planning and classroom activities tailored to SEN students.
• Implement and adapt communication strategies for non-verbal students.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor student progress.
• Support students in developing their social and life skills in a caring, structured environment.
