JOB TITLE: Senior Welding Engineer DEPARTMENT: Applications

COMPANY MISSION

Key Accountabilities:
* Translation of drawings and design requirements into weld requirements and development of the method of qualification in line with the relevant codes and standards.
* Creation of welding procedures and technical instructions and technical review of procedures and implementation of Cyber-Weld processes to ensure built in quality.
* Recognition of the requirement for continuous improvement through the development of methods, processes and technologies.
* Establishing equipment requirements, maintenance regimes and ensuring the measurements systems are appropriate and analysed for each process.
* Performing welding engineering activities to support welder and weld qualifications.
* Support welding engineering activities (develop welding processes and qualify through to production)
* Maintaining work files containing the necessary documentation to support and demonstrate compliance with welding engineering codes and quality requirements.
* Writing weld procedures, performing detailed tests, analysing the quality of welds and results, and preparing reports necessary for welding production.
* Review and approval of welding related routers.
* Look after welding procedures for in-house manufacturing of products.
Qualifications (Desirable):
* Experience from an engineering background familiar with the nuclear industry is highly desirable.
* 5 – 10 Years of welding experience (GTAW /MIG/MAG) Some Mechanised /Robotics experience would be advantageous.
* IIW EWE/Welding Diploma, MSc in Welding, or a related qualification.
* City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Welding/Fabrication or equivalent.
* HND/Degree in an engineering discipline.
* EngTech, IEng, or CEng status is advantageous.
* EWS Welding Diploma (Specialist level) or similar is also desirable.
Skills and required experience
* Strong understanding of welding processes, particularly in manufacturing and engineering contexts.
* Thorough knowledge of quality control and process control related to welding.
* Proven experience with Problem Solving and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organisation.
* Proficient in using relevant IT tools to support welding and engineering activities.
