About the role

The purpose of the Vehicle Examiner is to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient examination standards within the examination team under their control in accordance with Central Engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Leadership and Motivation of the Vehicle Examination Team.
  • To carry out Maintenance and Safety Audits.
  • To fully comply with all HS&E legislation along with Group policies.
  • To fully comply with all relevant Engineering SOPs.
  • To provide guidance to other staff as required.

Salary: £44,000

Working shifts: Sun-Thur 1600-0000

About you

  • You must have a minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent qualification certificate and working experience in the role.
  • Must be aware of the DVSA standards for both the categorisation of defects (Spot checks/enforcement) and annual test.
  • Are you fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment including, hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, headlamp alignment tester, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machine, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment (i.e., air guns, drills, electric and pneumatic hand tools etc) as required?
  • You must be willing to attend appropriate underpinning training opportunities such as NC in Supervisory Management and Engineering and/or Corporate Membership of IRTE, and to complete them to the suitable standard within an agreed timescale (First Bus will assist in you obtaining these).
  • Do you hold full PCV licence?
  • Are you willing to show flexibility in respect to working hours and job roles to ensure that commitments are fulfilled?
