The firm is based on Northcote Road in Wandsworth, a convenient 8 minute walk from Clapham Junction train station. The Role Our successful Employment team is very busy, and we are looking for our first Employment Law Associate to join our growing team. The role can either be office-based or a hybrid role (with the successful candidate expected to work from the office 60% of the time). We act for both employers and senior executives and would like to hear from lawyers at around 3-5 years PQE who would like to further their experience in both areas - but with a focus on supporting our fast-growing employer practice servicing a range of clients including multinationals, professional services firms and fast-growth businesses. The successful candidate will have a background from a strong employment law practice, great technical abilities, client care and ethical standards and interpersonal skills. You will also need to have keen interest in networking and business development, supporting the marketing efforts of the firm with a view to building your own practice over time. The role will include: Assisting the firm’s Principal and Senior Consultants on a wide range of complex contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, acting for both employers and senior executives (including, for example, assisting in Employment Tribunal claims, advising on disciplinary, discrimination and whistleblowing issues and providing support with redundancy processes). Managing and running less complex employment law matters by providing front-line support directly to both employer and senior executive clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters (including, for example, advising on settlement agreements, conducting contract and policy reviews and designing and providing training). Proactive involvement in a range of business development and marketing activities including (but not limited to) attending and speaking at appropriate networking events and conferences, writing social media posts, articles and other thought pieces on topical issues and preparing client updates on key legal issues. You will be provided with bespoke support to help you develop your BD skills and your own profile and practice. Responsibility for providing technical and mentoring support and guidance to the firm’s trainees and paralegals. Taking an active role in ESG initiatives run by the firm as well as others that benefit the community and/or the environment and to ensure appropriate working practices and procedures are followed to enable the firm to meet its ESG targets and fulfil its B Corp obligations. Key requirements Experience gained at a strong employment law practice, acting for either employers or senior executives (or both).
