Position: Health & Safety Advisor Location: Witches Oak, Derby Rate Guide: £(Apply online only) per day (Neg DOE) inside IR35 Duration: 6-12 months The Role: Our client is a Tier 1 contractor within the water industry who are delivering a major water treatment project for Severn Trent Water valued at £100m. They are looking to strengthen their SHEQ team with a project-based Health & Safety Advisor. Based in the Severn Trent region on the Witches Oak project, you will fulfil the day-to-day H&S duties and contribute to the management and development of the regional safety strategy. Responsibilities: You will report directly to the Health and Safety Manager. Provide support to the project team to enable compliance with health and safety legislation and on the implementation of HSE guidance and best practice. Carry out systematic audits and inspections of the construction site, to verify compliance with the legislative requirements and compliance with the requirements of the health and safety management systems. Monitor the satisfactory resolution of health and safety problems. Investigate accidents and incidents to identify the root cause and learning points. Assist the project team with the preparation of risk assessments and identification of suitable control measures, as and when required. Assist with the development and maintenance of the safety-related documentation, e.g. manuals, procedures, guidance notes and forms. Liaise with clients, HSE Inspectors and external assessors. Sustain and build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships with the site team. Support the development of the project team in the creation of a positive health and safety culture. Experience: Extensive experience of health and safety practice with preferably strong experience in the Construction industry Knowledge of current and pending HSE Directives for health and safety Knowledge of current statutory health and safety law in the UK Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) Knowledge of good practice in construction, e.g. HSE guidance and approved codes of practice. Knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 (or similar management systems) Formal qualification in Occupational Safety and Health (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate).
