We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Driver Trainer to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to support, develop, and administer all areas of driver development and training. This includes managing driver trainers, delivering Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) training, promoting fuel-efficient driving, and ensuring driver compliance.
  • Job Title: Lead Driver Trainer
  • Location: Hoddesdon Depot (EN11 0DJ) - Depot-based role - may require travel to other sites using company vehicles.
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (40 hours)
Lead Driver Trainer Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of Driver Trainers: Oversee and support the driver training team.
  • Driver Development: Promote and deliver safe and fuel-efficient driving practices.
  • DCPC Delivery: Manage and deliver classroom-based DCPC training.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to driver compliance standards and regulations.
  • Accident Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis and implement fault rectification measures.
  • KPI Improvement: Measure and target improvements against key performance indicators.
Lead Driver Trainer Main Accountabilities:
  • Support the company's health and safety culture, including local safety campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Team and Depot Management to support safety roadshows and driver forums.
  • Coordinate pre-employment driver assessments and new driver induction training.
  • Maintain communication between drivers and operational teams to ensure training requirements are met.
  • Manage driver risk profiling and training records in compliance with GDPR.
  • Ensure drivers are proficient in operating existing and new equipment.
  • Review and address drivers' EU & RTWTD infringements.
  • Work with the Compliance Team to review motor vehicle accidents and implement corrective actions.
Lead Driver Trainer Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, practical, written).
  • Experience in driver training and instruction.
  • Ability to manage change and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of EU & RTWTD rules and regulations.
  • Competence in using digital tachographs and Microsoft Office software.
Desirable:
  • LGV NRI qualification.
  • RTITB NRI DCPC qualification.
  • National Road Haulage MCPC qualification.
  • IOSH certified qualification.
  • First Aid certification.
Qualifications Required:

Essential:
  • LGV UK Driving Licence C+E.
  • Experience in training delivery and instruction.
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.
Desirable:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an LGV driver.
  • Experience in delivering driver training and classroom instruction.
  • Understanding of GDPR and telematics analysis.
